Carolyn Anderson Adams, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in Topeka, Kansas.
Britta Carolyn Anderson was born September 27, 1933, in Dodge City, Kansas. Her parents were Britta Breakey Anderson and Bert Hansel Anderson. Carolyn grew up on a farm in rural Ford County where she was very active in 4-H. She was a participant in the exchange program of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and spent several months in France with the program. She attended Baker University and graduated from Kansas State University. She later graduated from Washburn Law School.
Carolyn lived most of her adult life in Topeka. After dedicating herself to raising her children, she began working as in-house general counsel for First National Bank of Topeka where she remained until she retired. She was an active volunteer in the Topeka community having been a past president of the Junior League of Topeka and the Community Resources Council. She also served on the boards of United Way, the Arts Council of Topeka, ERC Resource Center, and The Library Foundation.
Carolyn was married to Pelham Adams in 1955, although they later divorced.
She is survived by her three children, Suzanne (John) Holt of Leawood, KS; Charles (Laura) Adams of Burlington, VT; and Nancy (Andy) Foster of Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and great granddaughter, Eloise Azelie Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 30, 2024, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore, Kansas.
