Beverly A. Bicknell

Beverly Ann "Bev" Bicknell, gracefully departed this life at the age of 79, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Topeka. Born on September 23, 1946, in Holton, Kansas, Bev was the cherished daughter of Vernie Arthur and Mary Margaret Porter. She embarked on her educational journey at Highland Park High School in Topeka.

Bev dedicated many years to serving the State of Kansas, later finding joy in her role at Kohl's Department Store in Topeka. Her vibrant spirit was reflected in her active participation with the Red Hat Society and her love for square dancing in a Topeka Square-Dancing Club, which brought her great delight.

On April 21, 1967, Bev united in marriage with John Harry Bicknell in Topeka, a partnership that flourished until John's passing on January 10, 1987. Bev leaves behind a legacy of love through her son, John E. Bicknell, and her daughter, Mary Bicknell, both of Topeka. Her memory lives on in her four grandchildren: Jamara Banks, Bailey Bicknell, Emma Bicknell, and Carter Bicknell. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Sandy Porter of Topeka.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers, Bill and Tom Porter. Bev's heart was full when she was surrounded by her family, especially while cherishing moments with her grandchildren at their sporting events. Her passions included the joy of square dancing, the serenity of bald eagle watching, touring on cruise ships with friends and the comfort of country music and NASCAR racing.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2026, at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
