Angie R. Redd

May 10, 1967 — February 3, 2021

Angela "Angie" Barry Redd, 53, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.

She was born May 10, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Margorie (Baron) Barry. Angie received a bachelor's degree in Industrial Psychology from Kansas State University.

Angie was employed by the Barry Law Office for years serving as an administrative assistant. She also helped manage various commercial properties including Hillsdale Shopping Center.

Her favorite hobby as a young woman was running. Her first involvement was with the Topeka Thunderbolt Running Club and she was inspired by her coach Chris Christenson. Through hard work and determination, she became very accomplished. Angie was a back-to-back state mile champion while at Topeka West High School. She went on to run for Kansas State University. Angie had an outstanding running career at K-State, where she was a member of three NCAA-National qualifying cross-country teams. She was a KU Relays winner in the 10,000 meter. She was the 1990 Big 8 champion at 10,000 meters, and qualified for the NCAA National Track & Field Championships at 10,000 meters the same year. She also held a Big 8 Conference Indoor record as a member of record-setting Distance Medley Relay. Angie was a 4-year letter winner at Kansas State University in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track. After graduating from college, she went on to run professionally and train for the Olympics in 1992. She was sponsored by Rebook and Nike. Angie was inducted into the Topeka West Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 1999.

Angie also enjoyed spending time with her horses and animals. Her love for horses was passed down through tradition to Misty. While Angie loved to ride, and was accomplished in her own right, she cherished the time spent and relationship formed with them above all and left the serious riding to her daughter. Angie and Misty spent a lot of time going to different competitions and horse shows together all around the country.
She was very passionate about rescuing dogs and providing a warm and loving home.

Angie was a loyal and supporting friend to all and had a fabulous sense of humor.

Out of all her accomplishments, her greatest accomplishment was her daughter, Misty. Angie passed away peacefully with Misty by her side, holding her hand.

She was a member of the St. David's Episcopal Church, of Topeka for over 25 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Misty Redd; her parents; brother, Tony (Jana) Barry; and her niece, Addison Barry and Nephew, Brogan Barry.

Honoring Angie's wishes, cremation is planned, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Saving Death Row Dogs PO Box 67671, Topeka, KS, 66667 http://savingdeathrowdogs.com and the Lupus Foundation of America 2121 K Street NW, Suite 200, Washington D.C., DC 20037 https://www.lupus.org/
