Alice M. Ledeboer, 84, of Silver Lake, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 25, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Alice was born on April 24, 1942, to Alvin E. and Harriet E. Griffith (Welch). She grew up in the Wamego area, where she attended Wamego High School and graduated with the class of 1960.
While working at the local Belvue truck stop, Alice caught the eye of Bob Ledeboer. Their relationship blossomed into a lifelong love, and the two were married on August 31, 1962. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed two children, Julie and Dan.
Throughout their 64 years of marriage, Alice and Bob shared countless cherished memories. They enjoyed many evenings square dancing the night away, sharing dinners and each other’s company, and traveling together to destinations including Branson, Louisiana, Arizona, California, Nashville, and Florida. Along the way, Alice may have been known to collect a seashell or two, bringing home little reminders of the places they had visited and the memories they had made.
Alice was affectionately known as the keeper-of-ALL-dates. With a little feistiness and plenty of love, she made sure no one forgot what was coming up. Family members could count on receiving a phone call several days before a trip, checking to see if they had started packing yet. As the family’s unofficial calendar, Alice ensured that every birthday, anniversary, graduation, and special occasion was not only remembered but celebrated. Her thoughtfulness and attention to detail were just some of the ways she showed her family how much they meant to her.
Alice also had an impressive collection of Scotty dogs and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for 35 years. While she had many interests and treasured memories, nothing meant more to Alice than her family. Her family was the center of her world, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching them grow and celebrating each new milestone along the way.
Survivors include her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Ledeboer, children, Julie and Dan, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Harriet, brother, Joseph, and sister, Lula.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 30th, 2026 at 10:00AM at Topeka First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 SW Buchanan St, Topeka, KS 66604, with a visitation one hour prior and burial at 2:00PM at Belvue Cemetery in Belvue, Kansas.
Alice will be remembered for her loving heart, her spirited personality, her remarkable memory for every important date, and the countless ways she made the people around her feel loved and remembered.
