Dr. Robert “Bob” Charles Papp, 84, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023.

He was born May 25, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Charles and Ann (Cerny) Papp. Bob graduated from Seen High School in Chicago, IL. He received a Doctorate from Northwestern University. He joined the United States Air Force ranked as a Captain and was a Flight Surgeon from 1964-1966.

After he was honorable discharged from the Air Force, he worked with Kansas Neurological Institute and opened a private medical practice. Bob was a Docent and taught at the Learning Center at the Topeka Zoo for 22 years.

He married Karen Burrall on May 10, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Topeka. Karen and Bob met while singing in the church choir.

Bob was a member at First Lutheran Church of Topeka. He grew up in the Lutheran Church and started singing in the church choir when he was a teenager. He participated in the choir for over 60 years.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Papp and brother, Allan Papp. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister in law, Ina Papp.

Bob gifted his body to the KU Willed Body Program to further medical science. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 19, 2023 at First Lutheran Church. After the memorial ceremony, we will honor Bob’s service to the United States Air Force with military honors at Mount Hope Cemetery.
