Georgiann “George” P. Reed, 79, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

She was born January 16, 1944, in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of George and Edith (Zorzin) Poulignot. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Ft. Hays State University.

Georgiann was employed as the Administrative Assistant at Fairlawn Heights Nursing Facility. She also served as a guardian to many disabled individuals with the Guardian Angels and helped people find housing and better their lives.

She was a devout Christian. She helped organize vacation bible school and was a Sunday School Teacher at New Hope Baptist, Emmanuel Baptist and Highland Park Baptist Church. While attending Emmanuel Baptist church, she served as a Sunday School Director. She loved to spread the word of Jesus to those around her.

Georgiann loved watching KU Basketball, especially during March Madness. She was also a Kansas City Chiefs football fan. She was a passionate American and proud supporter of the US Troops. Georgiann was known as a prankster and will be remembered by wrapping gifts with lots of tape to send to her family along with a lot of other pranks. She enjoyed listening to the Gaithers, studying genealogy, going to garage sales, repurposing junk found and sitting on her balcony and greeting those that walked by. Georgiann was falsely arrested for beating a person in a bar fight and later won a settlement against the City of Topeka.

Survivors include her three daughters, Kelly Turner, Kimberly Akins and Kerry Alfrey; grandchildren, Toni and Cody (Andrea) Garefalos, Kristin Moore, Keith Forshee, Kayden Jones, Matthew (Hannah) Finch, Joe Alfrey II and Mason Alfrey; great grandchildren, Connor Volz, Braylie Garefalos, Erika Rivera, Greyson Rivera and Beau Finch; brothers, George Poulignot, II and Kevin Poulignot and aunt, Dixie Curry. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Delores Poulignot and sister, Linda Beal.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Highland Park Baptist Church, 820 SE 29th St, Topeka, KS 66605. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
