Joyce I. Kinder, 89, of Metropolis, Il., formerly of Topeka, Kansas went to her eternal home on Friday, February 17, 2023 with her great niece by her side.

Joyce moved to Metropolis, Il, in 2017 to live with her great-niece, Leslie Pool (Mike) who cared for her until she passed.
Joyce was born on April 14, 1933 in Delevan, Illinois to Harry and Jessie (Sidell) Godby. She married Richard L. Kinder on September 5, 1959 in Delevan and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2017.

Joyce is survived by one sister-in-law, Iris Godby of Delevan, Il; Nieces, Janet Sexton of Carmi, Il, Jeanine Allen (Fred) of Delevan, Il; and Nephew, Gary Devore of Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Richard L. Kinder, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lillian P. Devore (Earl), her brother, Jimmy Godby.

Joyce was an avid dog lover and enjoyed spoiling her dogs and any other dog she came into contact with.

Mrs. Kinder graduated from Delevan High School in 1951. She attended Browns Business School in Peoria following graduation. She was of Methodist Faith and enjoyed sewing, crochet and quilting. Joyce was very active in Genealogy often speaking at libraries and helping anyone that wanted to learn. She was a member of Junior League in Peoria and very active with the American Legion.

Private graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
