Philip L. Anderson, Jr, 86, of Topeka, passed away at home comfortably with his family on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
He was born September 13, 1936, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Phillip L. and Allene E. (Pinkston) Anderson, Sr. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1956.
Philip worked for KATZ, the State of Kansas and retired from Goodyear in the 1990's.
He married Barbara Tubbs in Topeka, Kansas in 1957. To their union in marriage they welcomed seven children, Annette, Mark, Kenneth, Rodney, Dana, Cheryl and Andre.
Philip enjoyed going to the casino and playing games at home. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching basketball, football and baseball. He played sports as a child.
He is survived by his children, Annette Hall, Mark (Helena) Anderson, Kenneth A. Anderson, Rodney (Gale) Anderson, Dana Anderson, Cheryl (Moshiri) Smith, Andre Anderson and Phylis Craig; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild and sister, Carolyn Nance. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Anderson; his parents; son, Antonio Anderson; granddaughter, Shawn Ta Wheeler; siblings, Bessie Whitehead, Phyllis Anderson and Alberta Anderson.
His family will have a memorial gathering on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Mount Zion Baptist Church- Fellowship Hall, 2801 SE Indiana, Topeka, Kansas 66605. Memorial contributions may be made to American Breast Cancer Foundation, 10400 Little Patuxent Parkway Suite 480 Columbia, MD 21044.
