Hear Ye, Hear Ye

The jolliest of jolly people has passed. The kindest of all kinds has passed. He is with his brother, sister, parents, and friends who have passed before him. At the end he could not breathe, but wanted to.

Mark D. Erickson, 81, former school psychologist, counselor, educator of Kansas School Districts and E.S.U. Lab School, passed away November 30, 2022 in Topeka.

Mark was a graduate of Washburn University, Kansas University, with a Special Counseling Certification from U.C.L.A. and E.S.U.

Mark served as President of Kansas School Psychologist and Topeka High School Historical Society.
His hobbies included traveling with extended family and friends, watching Cardinal baseball and K.U. games, and playing bridge and golf.

Mark is survived by wife, Carolyn Sue Erickson of 51 years; sister-in-law, Charlotte Pittman; three nephews, Troy Schuknecht, Todd Schuknecht, Tim Schuknecht; three nieces, Anne Starbuck, Monica McBride, and Amy Marhoefer; great nieces and nephews, Nicholas Starbuck, Natalie Sutherland, Leah Starbuck, Brett McBride, Megan McBride, T.J. Schuknecht, Hunter Holloway, and Tyler Schuknecht; great-great-nieces and nephew, Le’Veah and Giovanni, and Emma Schuknecht.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Dee” and Maureen Erickson, brother, John Erickson, and sister, Hilda (Erickson) Enewold.

Gifts may be shared with Washburn University, Dee Erickson Scholarship, Big Brothers - Big Sisters.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Topeka, KS 66604. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.
