She graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1967. Other educational accomplishments include a Bachelor’s of Science in Home Economics Education from Kansas State University, a Master’s Degree of Science in Home Economics Studies from Kansas State University and a Master’s Degree of Science of Secondary Interrelated Special Education from Washburn University. Her teaching career included Home Economics as USD 450 and the College of Education and Home Economics at Washburn University and high school Special Education in all three high schools in USD 501. She was a consulting teacher in special education at the time of her retirement. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years.
Carol enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, watching K-State Football and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Brookwood Covenant Church. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Duane Walker; her three children, Cristen White (James), Robert Douglas Walker and Travis Duane Walker; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be at 11:00am on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Her family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jamieswish.org.
