Anita L. Frank Life story video
Anita L. Frank, 79, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Homestead of Eudora from heart complications.

She was born July 11, 1943, in Onaga, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mary (Pierson) Riley. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1961. After graduation, she attended Washburn University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1966.

Anita was employed by the Kansas Historical Society for 15yrs years, retiring in 2009.

She was a proud, dedicated member of the Kansas Anthropological Association (KAA). Through her years of membership of the KAA, she served as secretary and treasurer and would often help with the educational digs in the summertime. Anita was also a member of the Daughters of The Grand Army of the Republic and the Sierra Club advocating for the environment and to help preserve the forests.

Anita enjoyed wood working and with the help of her father and brother, she built her home in Topeka. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, skiing, bicycling and road trips with her family. Being very patriotic, her favorite holiday was Independence Day and loved family firework displays, the screaming zoomie ones especially. Environmental conservation was a passion of Anita’s, shown by her investment in solar panels for her home, and was proactive in protecting our planet, animals, plants and people in need. Anita was a God fearing woman who tried her best to follow the ways Jesus taught.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Elizabeth White; granddaughter, Trillian White and siblings, John David Riley, Joyce Gassen and Mark Riley. Anita was preceded in death by her parents.

Honoring her wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm., Friday, December 2, 2022, at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
