Thresia A. Bretz, 67, Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022.

She was born October 7, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of Henry and Georgia Bell (Dunnagan) Hagan. She graduated top in her class from Charlotte Technical College and earned her license as an LPN.

She served as an LPN at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL for many years prior to moving to the Topeka area in 2001.

Thresia was a member of Northland Christian Church and ASPCA. She was an animal lover, volunteering at Helping Hands Humane Society for several years. Prior to her illness, Thresia enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, cross-stitching, needle point and embroidery, all of which she was incredibly talented at.

On August 16, 2003, she married Gary E. Bretz in Topeka, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include her brother, Garland (Rosemary) Potts; four children, Shannon Stephenson, Brooke Attebury, Robert Bretz, and Alex Bretz; three grandchildren, Tony Cipollaro, Deja Stephenson, and Tyler Jordan Stephenson; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Keisha Stephenson.

A celebration of Thresia’s life will be 2pm Friday, November 18, 2022 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
