We are sad to announce the passing of Barbara Jean Calvillo (Pimentel) of Topeka, KS. She died at age 73 on Sunday, November 6th, 2022, after a long-fought battle with cancer, which she gracefully handled with strength and dignity. Barbara passed away while lovingly surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born on September 28, 1949, in Topeka, the daughter of Henry and Lena (Castardo) Pimentel. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1969 and proudly worked for 43 years as a Telecommunications Operator at Stormont Vail Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren, traveling, and meeting new people. She married Frank Calvillo Jr. on August 30th, 1969, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He survives. Barbara is also survived by her sons, Frank H. Calvillo III (Dinvir), Camdenton, MO., Jacob P. Calvillo (Laura), Clifton, VA., and daughter, Sara E. Chavez (Michael), Lawrence, KS, and her sister, Margaret Vasquez (Richard) of Topeka, KS. Her treasured grandchildren, Alexander Calvillo, Christopher Calvillo, Brianna Calvillo, Dylan Calvillo, Sofia Chavez, Ava Chavez, and great-grandson Jackson Calvillo, also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry; mother, Lena; sister, Delores Day; and nephew, Anthony Sanchez-Day.
