Mary Ann Earp, 92, of Topeka passed away on August 31st, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1930 to Clifford and Ella Mae Cottrell. Mary Ann attended Topeka High School, graduating in 1947. On September 2, 1961, she married Roscoe Earp. Together, they raised two daughters, Pam and Jan.

Mary Ann was an avid voice for the pet population in Topeka. For 53 years, she served on the Board of Directors for the Helping Hands Humane Society, and in 2004, started the annual HHHS Golf Tournament, now named in her and Roscoe's honor, raising over $100,000. In addition to her service to HHHS, Mary Ann lobbied for the passage of Senate Bill No. 48, dubbed "Scruffy's Law, " making animal cruelty in Kansas a felony, rather than a misdemeanor. In 2006, the bill was signed into law.

She also volunteered her time at TARC for several years, teaching art classes. Mary Ann served as a past-president of the Santa Fe Women's Club. Throughout her community involvement, Mary Ann's husband and biggest cheerleader, Roscoe, stood proudly by her side. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law Gary Lundberg.
