In Memory Of
Sherry Horton
1961 - 2022

We regretfully announce the passing of Sherry Lynne (Snook) Horton, 61, of Topeka, KS on May 5, 2022. Her loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.

Sherry was born on March 28, 1961 to Phillip & Barbara (Hammer) Snook in Topeka, KS.

Growing up on a farm was the perfect setting for young Sherry. Sherry was passionate about animals from a very young age. She enjoyed helping care for the many animals, going fishing on Sundays, gardening and spending as much time outside as possible. She also learned many skills and was fearless. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do or fix herself regardless of her small stature. In her youth, she played softball, was on the drill team and played the flute in band through high school.

Anyone who knew Sherry, knew she had a zest for life. She loved her girls fiercely. She was always talking about them, and their accomplishments, and enjoyed her many “mini vacations” to visit her girls in Kansas City.

Sherry was very giving and enjoyed helping others. There’s nothing Sherry wouldn’t do for others, even if to her own detriment at times. In recent years, she spent her time dog sitting, helping out family, friends and neighbors whenever possible, enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews, and was always talking about her next “mini vacation” to visit her daughters in Kansas City or her best friend since junior high, Deanna. Sherry will always be remembered for her caring and giving spirit. We will miss her greatly.

The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. Sherry will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Melissa and Brooke (Logan), and grandchildren, Adrian and Genevieve. She will also be forever remembered by her mother Barbara, her father Phillip, her sisters Terry and Kerry, her nieces and nephews Coby, Kaylee and Scott, great nieces and nephews Cora, Hope, Kyle, Myha, Kyra and her extensive family. Sherry’s family and friends will miss her more than words can say. She was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Scott Snook, and beloved dachshund, Carmen.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sherry’s name to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society at: https://mssociety.donordrive.com/campaign/SherryHorton.

Services will be held at Penwell-Gabel, Mid-Town Chapel at 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS, on Friday, May 20. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm. A Celebration of her life will begin at 2:00pm.
