Betty Duermeier
1940 - 2022
She was born December 25, 1940, in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Gus and Gertrude Glissman.
Betty was a Christmas baby and raised on a farm just north of Valley Falls, Kansas. From her time on the farm, she grew to love animals. Her love for animals extended throughout her life and she was known for taking care of any and all strays. Some even say she loved animals more than people.
She was involved in her community and had a very entrepreneur spirit. In addition to being a financial consultant, she was the president of the Topeka Cosmopolitan Club and the vice president of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce.
Betty had a strong Catholic faith. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was very involved as a religious education teacher and with women’s bible study.
Betty married Dean Duermeier, they later divorced. While married to Dean, the couple were prominent members of the Topeka Country Club and could be found entering and winning dance competitions throughout the area.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Duermeier and wife Kelli, grandson, Noah Lundy, and granddaughters, Delainey and Chloe Duermeier. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Scott Duermeier, and brother, Joe Glissman.
