Warren Earl Mullen, Sr., 89, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

He was born August 17, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Earl L. and Edith M. (Husband) Mullen. He was a 1950 graduate of Wichita North High School and attended Wichita State University. He served in U.S. Navy during the Korean War until being honorably discharged on December 10, 1953.

Warren was employed by Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for 43 years, retiring in 1994.

He was an active member of East Side Baptist Church in Topeka, where he served in different capacities, including Treasurer, and built furnishings for the church.

Warren married Ann Williams on April 9, 1967 in Wichita. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include his son, Warren E. (Sheree) Mullen, Jr. of Topeka; his daughter, Julie (David) Gunn of Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Jason (Brianne) Mullen, Chelsea (Tyler) Dekok, all of Topeka, Matt (Deanna) Gunn of Denton, TX, Sarah (Ricky) Casarez of Ft. Worth, TX and Emily Gunn of Ft. Worth, TX; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Father Lawrence Mullen.

Warren enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and his favorite pastime was woodworking. He also enjoyed gardening.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the Mt. Hope Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
