Sieglinde K. “Sigi” (Vogel) Bedwell, 79, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

She was born April 5, 1942, in Feucht, Germany, the daughter of Paul and Rosa (Kammermeyer) Vogel.

Sigi was employed by a chocolate factory in Nurnberg, Germany, Whitaker Cable Company in Junction City, KS and later for Wal-Mart in Topeka, KS until retiring.

She was a member of the German Club in Topeka.

Sigi married Tim L. Bedwell on February 3, 1961 in Nurnberg, Germany. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2003. Survivors include her son, David (Patricia) Bedwell of Topeka; her granddaughter, Crystal (Craig) Combes of Topeka; her grandson, Christopher (Barbara) Bedwell of Sachse, TX; three great-grandchildren, Kelly, Christina and Charlotte; her brother, Peter Vogel of Switzerland; her sister Christa Wild of Germany; her nieces, Ute, Roswitha and Anja and their families; and her cousin, Norbert (Gaby).

She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Christina Haslett and three sisters, Gisela Bosch, Gertrud Barschneider and Paula Bogner.

Sigi enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her German friends. She was also avid Bingo player, enjoyed reading German magazines and watching TV.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 22, 2021 at Half-Day Cemetery, Elmont, KS. Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, in Topeka is assisting the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 6405 Metcalf Avenue, Suite 204, Overland Park, KS 66202.
