Jake Heim, 88, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021.

He was born December 25, 1932, in Tecumseh, Kansas, the son of Michael and Gladys (Rook) Heim. He was the eleventh of thirteen children. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1952.

He was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jake loved sports. Back in high school he played basketball. His all-time favorite team was the KSTATE Wildcats. He also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jake was a plumber with the State of Kansas and with Carlson Plumbing. He was Carlson’s first apprentice.

If he wasn’t watching sports, he was spending time with his family and friends. You could also catch him in his vegetable garden or giving away his produce to his neighbors.

Jake married Gladys Lee in 1954, she survives. Other survivors include his children, Dorothy (John) Butler, Scott (Janet) Heim, Jody (Steve) Starnes and Lance Heim; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.

Cremation is planned. A Memorial Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Mather Dei Catholic Church Holy Name, 1114 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will be a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
