Dean Carls, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021.

He was born May 18, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William Frederick Carls, Jr and Vera Mildred (Moffett) Carls. He graduated from Berryton High School in 1945 and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy from Kansas State University.

He was baptized in his home by Wakarusa Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of Topeka First Assembly of God.

He was a farmer through in through. He has been a farmer all of his life raising livestock and crops. He had a wonderful green thumb when it came to his vegetable garden. He had twenty apple trees at his house in which he would make apple juice.

He enjoyed baking, making the best carrot bread around and peanut clusters. He also enjoyed listening to country gospel.

After he retired, he and his beloved wife traveled the United States to visit family. They traveled to Niagara Falls, California, Oregon and their favorite spot, Branson to see the shows.

Dean married Bonita "Bonnie" L. Winters on March 15, 1975 in Osawatomie, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2018. Survivors include his brother, Dale Carls; nieces, Vera (Dennis) Brinkman, Jana (Rick) Fuhrmann, and Judy (David) Boltman.

A Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Shawnee Center Cemetery in Wakarusa, Kansas.
