Robert W. Nicholson, 87, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

He was born September 1, 1934, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Glen and Inez (Louva) Nicholson. He graduated from Ottawa High School.

After graduating from High School, he joined the United States Air Force. He dedicated 20 years of service to his country as a Boom Operator on the Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker.

Robert was employed by the Kansas State Highway Patrol as a dispatcher for numerous years.

In his spare time, Robert loved to travel all over the United States with Ophelia to collect antique radios. Robert loved animals, especially his little dog, Deb.

Robert married Ophelia J. Mattwaoshe and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2021. Survivors include his daughter, Debra (Bill) Thill and granddaughter, Christina Jean (Aaron) Frasier. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Nicholson.

Honoring Robert's wishes, cremation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at ASPCA.org.
