Carl “Truman” Borghardt, 94, Topeka, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021.

He was born October 29, 1926, near Irwin, Missouri, to Floyd and Dovie (Hall) Borghardt.

He graduated from Lamar High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Kansas State College of Pittsburg. He served in the Navy and Marine Corps.

Truman taught business at Lecompton High School and later became an insurance agent with Allstate and various insurance companies in Topeka.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.

On June 12, 1960, he married Sylvia Wulf at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Humboldt, Kansas. She survives. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Truman was preceded in death by his children, Cindy Harris, Susan Borghardt, and David Borghardt, and two siblings, Bob Borghardt and Betty Baker.

Funeral services will be 2pm, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas at a later date.
