In Memory Of
JoAnn "Jann" McCarter
1933 - 2021
Jann enjoyed Genealogy, sports, reading and the companionship of her many friends. She loved activities that included her extended family, children, and grandchildren. Always excited about travel, Jann loved the trips around the country she took through the years. She never met a sugary treat she didn’t like.
She married Boyce R. McCarter on November 24, 1954 in Marysville.
During her career as an RN Jann worked at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Brewster Place, private Physician’s practice and the Veteran’s Administration.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brother William Rickert.
Jann is survived by her children; Michelle Gomez, Kirk (Bronda) McCarter, Michael (Nancy) McCarter, and Kitt (Andy) Heineken. Six grandchildren; Camlynn (Michael), Collin, Ross (Summer), Sean, Amanda, and Taylor. Three great-grandchildren; Aven, Kelson, and Elias. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Grace McCarter and many nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt thanks to St. Francis Cancer Center and Midland Hospice for their exceptional care.
Most importantly, we are grateful to Lauraine Fenoglio and all Jann’s Stormont-Vail nursing class sisters for their lifelong warm, loving friendship with our Mother.
The family invites friends to participate in a remembrance of Jann’s life at 11am on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, greeting friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka & Shawnee Co. Public Library 1515 SW 10th, Topeka, KS, 66604.
