Wende Caroline Horton, 54, of Topeka, passed away on April 20, 2021 at home from natural causes.

Wende was born April 5, 1967 in Topeka, the eldest daughter of Robert and Nancy Horton. She attended the Washburn Rural school district from kindergarten to 8th grade. She then attended Fredericktown High School in Fredericktown, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.

Wende is survived by her son, Richard “Alex” White; her parents, Robert and Nancy Horton; her sisters, Emily (Avery) Moore and their children, Sam Moore and Miles Moore; and Robyn (Jason) Meinholdt, and their children, Cooper Anderson and Kaylea Meinholdt.

During childhood she attended Grace Episcopal Cathedral, where her family still attends.

Wende was very involved in the radio industry from the age of 16. Her career accomplishments include Kansas Presumptive Disability, iHeartMedia Inc., Bryan University, and the Kansas Department of Revenue.

Wende enjoyed music-especially Bon Jovi, attending concerts, cooking, art, and watching movies and sports. She also enjoyed traveling and fishing with her son, nature, taking care of her animals, talking with friends, and playing games.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Ave, Topeka. Interment was held at Grace Episcopal Cathedral Columbarium.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
