George Dean Rinner, 93, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021.
He was born August 9, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of George and Edna (Retter) Rinner. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University. He served in the Navy from 1945-1946.
Dean was a co-owner of the Rinner Construction Company with his brother William, retiring in 1988.
He was a lifetime member of the Seaman Congregational Church, of Topeka. Dean served various leadership roles throughout his membership.
Dean was active in the Topeka community and was a member of the Optimist Club, Brewster Place Board of Director, USD 345 School Board, a long-time member of the YMCA, and a Volunteer Fireman for Soldier Township. He was a member of the Association of General Contractors.
In earlier years he routinely played golf and handball. He enjoyed many vacations and all family activities. He was also a supporter of Kansas State University. Dean was active with the senior fitness group, wood carving and social activities at Brewster Place up until the end of his life.
Dean married Elna Bowman on June 2, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2011. Survivors include his daughters, Martha (Judson) Kenworthy, Louann (Ronald Keehn) Rinner, and Karen Rinner; son, Tom (Annie) Rinner; grandchildren, Maria (Jackie Berra) Cuevas, Dustin (Kari) Holub, Lance (Brooke) Kenworthy, Matthew (Emily) Kenworthy, Cody Holub, Allie Rinner, Sara Rinner; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Diana Rinner. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George Alan Rinner; sister, Mary Lou Weeks; and two brothers, William Rinner and Fred Rinner.
Honoring Dean's wishes, cremation is planned. A private memorial service will be held due to COVID. Burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
