Robert E. Proper, 87, Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021.
He was born December 31, 1933, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William and Mary (Burrell) Proper. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Robert was employed at Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 42 years of service.
Robert married Janice Marie Wolverton on June 8, 1958 in Barnes, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 2017.
Survivors include a two children: Diane K. Henault (Greg), Henderson, NV and David Proper (Brenda), Topeka; three grandchildren: Christopher (Amber) Morris; Ashley (Jeremy) Villines, all of Topeka; and Sean Sargent, Henderson, NV; three great-grandchildren: Ethan Villines, Avery Villines, and Hudson Morris, all of Topeka; and one sister-in-law, Charlene Proper, Tecumseh.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Lillian Atkins and Florence Moll; one brother, Donald Proper; and one grandson, Lucas Russell.
Private family graveside services with military honors will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.
