Ophelia J. Mattwaoshe Nicholson, 84, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born October 1, 1936, in Mayetta, Kansas, the daughter of Joe and Edith (Nocktonick) Mattwaoshe. She attended school in Mayetta, Ks and Holton, Ks.

Ophelia married Robert "Nick" "Bob" Wayne Nicholson. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Debra (Bill) Thill; one granddaughter, Christina Jean (Aaron) Frasier; and niece, Barbara (Sal) Giardina. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Mel Guerrero and Rosetta Anderson; and brother, Logan Mattwaoshe.

Ophelia enjoyed collecting antique radios, traveling, and spending time with her beloved husband Robert. She was a tribal member of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi Indian Tribe.

Honoring Ophelia’s wishes, cremation has been planned. Memorial contributions may be made the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at ASPCA.org.
