Shawn Morgan Harris, 53, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021.

He was born August 6, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of John Morgan Harris and Roseanne (Cloud) Rogers.

Shawn and Lori Terry met in the summer of 1986. Shawn immediately began helping Lori raise her two sons Ryan (Michelle) Grimmer, Ok and Daniel Grimmer, TX, as his own. Shawn and Lori were married on June 23, 1992. From this union they had a son Shane Harris. Shawn and Lori loved Shane’s fiancé, Rachel Graf, like a daughter. They became grandparents when oldest son Ryan and wife Michelle gave them two wonderful grandchildren Joel and Hannah (Claremore, Oklahoma). Lori preceded him in death on October 16, 2016.

Shawn was married to Donna Marie (Gibson) Johnson on May 17, 2018 in Topeka, KS, she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Roseanne Rogers (Ethan), Topeka; sisters, Stacy Merrill, Springfield, MO and Beth Noriega, Topeka He is survived too by Donna’s children, Michael L. (Jess) Johnson of Topeka, Matthew C. Johnson, Katie Lumene (Sowensky), Lawrence, KS; Six grandchildren, Tyoshia Bright, Wyatt and Gabriella Johnson, Topeka, Markelle, Eskridge and Lucielle Lumene, Lawrence, his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers and Dach, the family’s pet dachshund.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Morgan Harris, and Marion and Marvia Patterson. The grandparents Shawn considered his parents and a guiding force in his life.

Shawn was a 1985 graduate of Washburn Rural High School and graduated from Topeka Technical College.

Shawn was employed by The American Red Cross, KSNT as an Assistant Engineer, Fox 43, and was Director of Information Technology for Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

Shawn played electric bass guitar in the Praise and Worship Team for the Family of God church.

He was baptized and confirmed a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints December 15th, 2020 in Topeka, KS.

Shawn enjoyed listening to many genres of music, working with computers and website design, spending time in the yard and gardening. He enjoyed working with his hands as his grandfather taught him. Shawn always took the time to be with his grandbabies and teach them new things.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Prairie Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.

On Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 3:00 PM, we will have a memorial service. Due to Covid – 19 concerns, attendance will be limited to family only.
