Odell “Odie” Michael “Mike” Boyer, 71, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

He was born August 8, 1949, in Delaware, Ohio, the son of Odell and Prudence (Arnold) Boyer. He received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from a technical college in Columbus, OH.
Odie was employed by the Southwestern Bell for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Mr. Boyer was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Topeka and an honorary member of the Shawnee Heights Thespian Troupe.

Odie enjoyed golfing and volunteering at many locations, especially backstage at Helen Hocker Theater and Topeka Civic Theatre. He was a conductor of the Gage Park Mini Train for numerous years.

Odie married Irma Boyer on December 19, 1970 in St. Louis, MO. Survivors include a wife, Irma Boyer; sons, Jeff Boyer and Matt Boyer; brother, Jeff Boyer; sister, Patty Peters; and grandchildren, Will Boyer and Morgan Boyer. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honoring Odie’s wishes, cremation is planned. A public visitation will be held on January 15, 2021, 5:00PM-7:00PM at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66614.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
