She was born September 4, 1941, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Gerald and Ida (Moore) Sharkey. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1959.
Judy was a supervisor for the City of Topeka Water Department, retiring after 27 years. She loved painting and made several pieces of landscapes and barns. She also enjoyed shopping, especially antique shopping. She owned and operated The Open Window, an antique and gift shop, for over 17 years, with dear friend, Hazel Kroth.
She was a member of Grace Point Church and a previous member of First Wesleyan Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Judy married Archie N. Blocher on April 18, 1969 at First Wesleyan Church, Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Amy (David) Wakeman, Topeka; three siblings, Jerry (Pauline) Sharkey, Des Moines, IA; Sharon Hawks, and Susan (Clifford) VanVleck, all of Topeka; two granddaughters, Breanna and Grace Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pam Foresman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Grace Point Church. Services will be webcasted and uploaded to Judy's obituary. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Judy will lie in state from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
