Robert L. “Bob” Rumsey, 92, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Rossville Healthcare.

He was born May 2, 1928, in Pratt, Kansas, the son of Floyd Roscoe and Maude Belle (Allen) Rumsey. He graduated from Topeka High School.

He played slow pitch softball well until his 70's. He and Ferne loved to entertain. They enjoyed playing card games with his friends and family and enjoyed spending time with them in general.

He was employed by the City of Topeka as a Firefighter and worked there for 28 years before his retirement.
Prior to Ferne’s passing, they would enjoy going on trips. Together they were very involved with Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene; they would travel abroad to Africa, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. His travels took place through the National Nazarene Church Work and Witness Program. They would help with the construction of local churches and anything that was needed.

Bob married Ferne Reber on December 20, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas, she preceded him in death on November 7, 2019. Survivors include sons, Ronald (Cheryl Kyle) Rumsey and Rick Rumsey; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Falk, Jodi (Ricke) Yerta, and Ryan (Natalie) Rumsey; great-Grandchildren, Hanna (Mark) Anderson, Taylor Falk, Trey Yerta, Trevin Yerta, Rylie Rumsey, Lilly Rumsey, and; great-great-grandchildren, Brynn Anderson, Ivy Anderson and Ember Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings; one sister and two brothers.

Cremation has taken place and private services will be held at a later date.
