I taught with Laurn at Highland Park Junior High during the 60’s. He was a good teacher and was well liked by the students.
During those years, teachers ate lunch with their students, and we had assigned tables in the lunchroom. Laurn’s class sat at a table next to my class, and Laurn and I sat at the end of our respective tables so we could visit during lunch. He enjoyed cooking, and we often talked about recipes. A recipe I received from Laurn is still one of our favorite chocolate cakes.
He was a good man. I’m sorry for your loss.

He was my home room teacher when I was in seventh grade at Highland Park Jr high.
He always called the guys by their last name and the girls by "miss (last name)"
He was really quite a guy.
I remember seeing him at the mall waiting on his wife that was in one of the stores. He was just talking calmly to his infant son as though he was an adult.
I said hi and we chatted a bit. I thought he was kinda cool

I coached and taught with Laurn during the 60-70’s. He was good at everything that he tried to do. He taught me about coaching, gardening, camping, and fishing. We had a good time. I’m sorry for your loss.

Mr Axlund was a great teacher, great guy and great coach. I remember him fondly from HPJHS circa 1970. I has the pleasure of running into him years later at the old Grovers BBQ. He was with Mr Ord his long time friend and math teacher, also form the same time period at HPJHS. He is remembered well.

Mr. Axlund was a good teacher, always fair with the students. My husband, Brad Davenport was also a student of his and Mr. Axlund was his coach.

A good friend sent me the notice of Mr. Axlund's passing. We had both had Mr. Axlund as a teacher at Highland Park Jr High in the late 1960s. We both have good memories of him a half-century later. He was one of the teachers that everyone should have had. He was helping influence young minds in a positive way. My sincere condolences for your loss.

Laurn Axlund was one of my teachers at Highland Park Junior High in the 1960s. My heart goes out to his friends and family as they grieve his passing.

I loved this guy! Mr Axlund taught a HPJHS in the late 60's early seventies. He was funny and fair (even thought he gave me a few well deserved swats with his paddle). I ran into him many years later at Grovers BBQ after I graduated from college and we enjoyed a great revisiting of the good old times. He and Mr Ford (math teacher) were football coaches too. Great man that will be long remembered.

Dear Nancy,
Don and I were sorry to hear about Ax’s passing. We enjoyed talking with him when he came by Robinson. We always got a kick out of seeing his dog with him. He loved that dog. We are sending you our love and prayers.

Sorry to hear of Laurn's passing. I was a high-school classmate of his. Laurn was a really great guy. He was one of the best. May he rest in peace.

If I am remembering correctly, back many years ago we were neighbors with Nancy and Laurn. They would pick us up and take us to Awana.
We rode the bus with Mark and David. His name brought up so any memories of growing up. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Angie McDaniel(Bukacek)
