Raymond E. “Ray” Cochrane, 88, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at a local hospital.

Ray was born April 19, 1932 in Caney, KS, the son of Andrew and Zura (Fultz) Cochrane. He graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1950, received an Associate of Arts Degree from Coffeyville Junior College in 1955, received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1958, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washburn University in 1964.

He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1950-1952.

Ray worked for SW Bell from 1958-1967, Autonetics Division of North American Aviation Navigation Equipment from 1967-1971, worked as a Capital Complex Engineer for the State of Kansas from 1971-1981, retiring from Phillips Petroleum as a Sr Cost Estimating Engineer in 1992.
He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene where he participated in multiple Easter and Christmas Cantatas and was involved in the men's bible study.

Ray married Patricia Mooney on August 7, 1950 in Caney, KS. His wife of 70 years survives. Other survivors include daughters Rayetta and Roger Finefrock of Krugerville, TX, Roze Stirton and JR Dickey of Lenexa, KS, Pam and Roy Henderson of Topeka, KS, Ilana Noland of Topeka, KS, son Thomas of Topeka, KS, 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his parents, two sisters, Florence and Frances and his brother Paul, a son Patrick Edward and a grandson Peter Aaron Cochrane.

Private funeral services will be held at the Penwell-Gabel Chapel (masks are required). Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, KS.
