Andrea L. (Bertrand) Sage passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 12, 2020 at The House at Midland Care in Topeka, KS at the age of 71 from complications with Parkinson’s.

Andrea was born on May 11, 1949 in Clay Center, KS. She was the daughter of Lafe and Anita (Wiberg) Bertrand, and the oldest of three sisters. She graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1967. In 1971, she graduated with a degree in fashion merchandising from Kansas State University. After graduation, she moved to Topeka, KS.

On January 8, 1972, she married J. Randall Holm. They had two children, a daughter Kristin Holm Ely, and a son Philip Holm. They later divorced. On June 11, 1994, she married Donald Sage. They shared 26 years of marriage and enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time at the lake with family.

Andrea’s first home was the Bertrand farm near Morganville, KS until the age of two when they moved to Clifton, KS. She then lived in the Four Mile Community until she moved to Manhattan, KS. Growing up on the Bertrand farm, Andrea was a great help to her Dad. She was a 4-H member and became an incredibly good cook learning from 4-H and from her Mom. Everyone looked forward to her baking, hoping she made their favorite! Her grandkids loved her macaroni & cheese and apple pie. Andrea was a talented clothing designer and created many beautiful designs for her daughter, son, and grandchildren. She gave gifts to family that were creations from her sewing and quilting talents. Andrea was an avid photographer and talented floral arranger, working at a local florist shop. She also participated in the Topeka Parkinson meetings. Andrea worked in the printing department at the State of Kansas where she retired.

Survivors include her husband Don Sage of Topeka, sisters Paulette Brosette (Kevin) of Grapevine, TX, Laurene Easterberg (Doug) of Dade City, FL; four nephews; stepdaughters Stephanie Watkins (Mike) of Holton, KS, Shara Sage-Winterbower (Tom) of Osage City, KS; granddaughter Kaityln Ely of Frisco, TX and grandson Eric Ely of Frisco, TX; 8 step-grandchildren and 6 step-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lafe and Anita Bertrand, daughter Kristin Holm Ely, and son Philip Holm.

A private graveside service will be held July 16 at Swedesburg Swedish Evangelical First Lutheran Church Cemetery, Clay Center KS. A public celebration of life will be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The House at Midland Care or Parkinson Foundation in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS.
