Joey was always such a straight forward friend.
I could always count on Joey to give me the most honest and straight forwarded answer I was looking for. We were friends for years - he taught me so much about life being precious, fitness, and much more.
I really loved Joey. He inspired me more than any other friend of mine. I looked up to him so much, hope you're flying high and breathing well now!! We love you! God bless the family.

Art & Karen, our prayers are with you and your family. Please remember; “Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He springs up like a flower and withers away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure (Job 14:1-2)." May the Almighty God be with you and strengthen you during this time of your family's loss of Joey. Our heartfelt love and deepest Sympathy.

Still can't believe this has happened. It seems like yesterday we where playing halo 3 at the fraternity house, Playing WOW for obscene hours at night, and working on our pledge-ship together. The long nights and crazy stuff we got ourselves into I will never forget it. I know he's in a better place and his pain and suffering has finally come to an end after all these years. I'll never say Good bye but I will say until next time my old friend I know i'll see you again one day :)

On behalf of all the brothers of Alpha Delta I want to express our sincere sympathy to Joey's family. I remember meeting and talking with Joey on several occasions at the fraternity house and he was a caring and remarkable young man. He was well liked and respected by his classmates and our alumni board. May he rest in peace.
Fraternally, John Minnick, Alpha Delta Alumni Secretary

Where do I start... I remember you bringing him home... I remember finding his medication all over the house... I remember the "beatings" as he called them, after he would take one of his many breathing treatments, he would lay across our lap & have us "beat him" on the back.... God sent you an angel & called him home before you were ready. He will be dearly missed. So very sorry for your loss, you will forever be in my prayers.

Joey and I have been friends for several years. Most of our friendship was spent in his various hospital rooms just talking and hanging out or at his house just hanging out. He was the one to always set me straight and tell me about myself with no sugar coating. He helped me get off the dark path I was living and find a new one to the life I have now. He always kept me accountable. I’m going to miss him dearly. I’m so sorry for your loss. He is already so greatly missed.

I first meet Joey while Paddy O-Hara was going to school at OU. I thought what a nice young man he is. I knew he was a great friend of our grandsons, Alec and Colin. I have spoke with Joey over the past few years about diet ideas. He was always so very helpful. Bless you all on the loss of your son, I know he will never be forgotten by all of his friends.
