He was born May 22, 1942, on the family farm in Versailles, Missouri, the son of George Maynard and Mary Virginia Wiecken. He received a High School Diploma from Raytown High School, and earned his Eagle Scout award through the Boy Scouts of America during his time in school. He served in the United States Navy during 1959-1961, and received an Honorable Discharge.
Larry worked for several years in the Grocery Business, from managing stores to owning some as well. He was most recently employed by Combined/ACE Insurance, selling supplemental insurance, for over 25 years before retiring.
Larry was a member of Northern Hills Baptist Church, American Legion Post #0225 of Ozawkie, and Gideons International.
Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting, listening to early classic country music, coin collecting and Mission work for Operation Christmas Child.
Larry married Gayle on October 13, 2002 in Emporia, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle Wiecken; brother, Richard Dean Wiecken his wife, Sharon; children, Mary Jane Ewing; George Earl Wiecken his wife, Nikki; Cameron Douglas Johnson his wife, Erin; Melissa Linn Ansberry her husband, Allen; grandchildren, Jerimiah Steele; Ian Steele; Jessica Foxhoven her husband, Jeremy; Josh Ewing; Tyler Ewing; William Bach; Kaylee Peterson her husband, Chris; George Henry Wiecken; Madison Ansberry; Blane Johnson; Cathlin Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.
Family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604. A Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 am., Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Northern Hills Baptist Church, 920 NW 62nd St., Topeka. Burial will follow at Half Day Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Northern Hills Baptist Church to be credited to Operation Christmas Child.
