She was born on February 28, 1926 in Stockport, Iowa, the daughter of William and Edith (Grove) Rhynas. On June 5, 1948, Dorothy married Robert R. Pooler.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing, reading, sailing, and horseback riding. Dorothy was a scout leader, member of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA), Nonoso, and was an active and dedicated member of the First Congregational Church, where she participated in the Women’s Fellowship and numerous other committees.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Evelyn (Michael Schmidt) Richter and William (Ruth) Pooler; grandchildren, Mary, Leah, and Joshua Richter and Katie, Hannah, and Haley Pooler; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many very special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at First Congregational Church, 1701 SW Collins Ave in Topeka. A visitation will be the hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
