Bertha worked briefly at Prairieview Hospital in Newton, KS and St Joseph’s Hospital in Halstead, KS before working 40 years at Menninger’s in Topeka. In 1963 Bertha married Allan O. Sieffert of Topeka. He preceded her in death in 2007. They have 5 children: Jonathon (Marilyn) Sieffert, Leavenworth, KS; Jenny (Eddie) Lockey, Celina, TX; Angie Sieffert (Bill Witter), Boulder, CO; Chris Sieffert (Julia), Phoenix, AZ; Barbara Hack, Topeka, KS. She has one granddaughter, Peyton Hack, of Topeka. Bertha is also survived by a sister, Esther Whiteman, of Andover, KS.
After Bertha’s career at Menninger’s she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband. She also enjoyed volunteering at Washburn University and working at St Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Bertha was a longtime member of the National Organization for Mother’s of Twins, Hilltoppers, and attended Koinonia Sunday School class at Topeka Bible Church.
A Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 am., Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane, Topeka. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Topeka. Bertha will Lie In State after 2:00 pm Sunday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.
