Duane Robert Duke, 89, of Carbondale, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 27, 2019.

He was born March 7, 1930, in Rose Hill, Kansas, the son of Edwin and Ora (Burhardt) Duke. He served in the Army during Korean War.

He married Doris Marie Yohn in 1952 she preceded him in death from cancer in 1964.
Duane was a member of First Christian Church in Topeka, where he served as a deacon and elder for many years. He was past president of the Topeka Kiwanis Club and a lifetime member of Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Quetzalcoatl and the Arab Shrine Temple.

Duane retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1989 as a Circuit Designer.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Duke and daughter, Diane Duke.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, November 4, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604. A Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am., Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery, in Wichita.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arab Shrine Children's Transportation Fund, 1305 S. Kansas Ave. Topeka, KS 66612.
