Mary Margene Gassen-Owens, 73, of Topeka passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019.

She was born December 27, 1945, the daughter of Junior Vincent and Dottie Bigenwalt.

Mary retired from USD 501 after 41 years of working in food service.

She married Lloyd Gassen on December 28, 1963. Lloyd preceded her in death on July 13, 1992. She also was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Danny Bigenwalt and sister, Elana Bigenwalt.

Mary is survived by her husband Randall Owens; daughter, Tammy Allensworth (Ron) of Topeka; brother, Joseph Bigenwalt (Linda) of Texas; stepchildren Cathy Thrower (Chad) of Texas, Michael Owens (Katie) of Georgia and Amanda Thrower (Jeremy) of Texas; grandchildren, Taner Allensworth (Aubrey) ot Topeka, Cameron Allensworth (Jessica) of Topeka, Chase and Caleb Thrower of Texas, Maddie and Gage Owens of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Brantlie and Jaxon Allensworth of Topeka, Cori Reser of Topeka and Jordyn Allensworth of Topeka.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue.

A Funeral Ceremony will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Penwell-Gabel - Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association 5375 S.W. 7th St Topeka, KS 66606 or to the National Kidney Foundation 6405 Metcalf Ave., #204 Overland Park, KS 66202.
