Dr. Lois Cox, 84, of Topeka, passed away on August 27, 2019.

She was born on January 7, 1935 in Humphreys, MO the daughter of George W. Hubble and Emma (Schmidt) Hubble.

She graduated from UMKC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1963. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in special education from KU in 1969. She earned her PhD in administration in 1976.

Lois was director of special education for Topeka #501 from 1978-2001.

She was a member and past president of PEO Chapter DN. She was also past president of Kansas State Chapter, 2004.

She married Joseph Cox on May 20, 1956. He survives. Other survivors include daughters, Margaret Jarvis and Marti Anderson (LaRay); granddaughters, Julie Cundy (Chris) and Katie Jo Richards (Luke); two great-grandchildren, Evan and Will Cundy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Leon William “Bill” Hubble.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019 at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6th & Gage.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Topeka Rescue Mission.
