Carolyn Eckhardt, 71, of Topeka, passed away on March 6, 2019.

She was born on June 9, 1947 in Winfield, KS the daughter of Cecil Ray Boone and Velma Darlene (Estep) Boone.

She graduated from Derby Senior High School in 1965 and went on to graduate from Wichita State University with a BA in Accounting.

She moved to Topeka in 1993. She worked in the accounting department at Newcomer Funeral Service Group from 1994-2001. She worked her entire career as an accountant at various locations. She also worked in the accounting department for Payless Shoe Source. She eventually worked for Kansas Department of Corrections, retiring in 2013.

Carolyn was an avid quilter, making hundreds of beautiful quilts, most of which she gave away to family and friends. She also enjoyed making knitted caps for the Topeka Rescue Mission to donate to the homeless.

She served faithfully in her church, and was a group leader for the Bible Study Fellowship organization.

She was an Amateur Radio Operator with a call sign N0PEK.

Carolyn served as a Republican Precinct Committeewoman since 2004, and served as a delegate to both the Kansas Republican Second District Committee and the Kansas Republican State Committee.

She was a sweet and gentle soul, a loving mother and grandmother who was loved by everyone who knew her. She boldly lived and demonstrated her faith in Jesus Christ.

Carolyn married Robert Eckhardt on April 15, 1967, he survives. Other survivors include children, Marc Eckhardt, Lisa Eckhardt; grandsons, Caleb Anderson, Collin Anderson; sisters, Janet Fager, Lori Armstrong (Russ); and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Myrna Allen.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening, March 11, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at El Paso Cemetery in Derby, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of the Central States, 2400 Troost Ave, Ste 4300 Kansas City, MO 64108-9736 or to Gideons International Topeka Southwest Camp, P.O. Box 4223, Topeka, KS 66604.
