Dolores Lee Field, 95, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Dolores was born February 19, 1923 in Hope, Kansas, the daughter of Harvey M. and Elsie L. (Haas) Rock. She graduated from Chapman High School, received her Bachelor’s degree from Kansas Teachers College in Emporia and her Masters of Science/Specialist in Education from the University of Kansas.

She was an elementary educator in Dickinson and Johnson Counties and a reading specialist teacher at Topeka High School.

She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. She volunteered at the Doorstep clothing bank and Let’s Help. She organized the adoption of families through the Christmas Bureau.

Dolores married David Mercer in 1950 and he passed away in 1952. She married Richard Field on June 21, 1958. He died on July 4, 2015. Survivors include children, Debbie Field-Kresie and husband, Randall, Topeka, Cynthia Sue Field, Clearlake, CA, Dwight Loren Field, Topeka, Diane Kay Field, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Scott Kresie and wife, Taylor, Meriden, Elizabeth Kresie and fiancé, Wesley Dempsey, Prairie Village; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Warren Rock, James Rock, William Rock, Lloyd Rock, Harold Rock and Patricia Huffaker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Countryside United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Private family interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
