She was born on October 17, 1943 in Lyons, NE the daughter of Robert Sr. and Dorothy Hayes. She grew up in Lyons, one of thirteen children. She eventually settled in Topeka, and held a career in the telecommunications industry.
Marilyn married Arthur Bob "Dickie" Whitsell Jr. on August 28, 1969.
She is survived by a son, Scott Whitsell. She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Bobby Whitsell III.
Marilyn left this world a loved mother, grandmother, and sister.
A visitation will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.
A graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, 6th & Gage.
