In Memory Of
Donna Jeanne Rankin
1931 - 2018

Donna Jeanne Hutton Rankin joined her heavenly family on Thursday, September 14, 2018.

Donna Jeanne is survived by her sisters, Roberta Rusnak and Barbara Norman (Doug); her son, Shannon (Kathy); her daughter, Sondra Rankin-Lovelace; her son Erin (Elaine); her 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Donna Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, John R. Hutton and Bernice Trotter Hutton; her sister, Ila Mae Fleming; her son, Nathan T. Rankin; and her husband, Marion Clinton Rankin.

Donna Jeanne was born in Scranton, Kansas on April, 27, 1931. She graduated from Rosedale High School in 1949. She married Clint Rankin in 1951 and they raised their children in Ashland, Ks. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma and her master’s degree from Ft. Hayes State University. Among other teaching positions, she taught in Ashland, Ks; Jardine Middle School in Topeka; and Allen County Community College in Burlingame, Ks.

Donna Jeanne had a lifelong love of learning. Her greatest joy was sharing her love of literature, music, theater, galleries, and museums with her family. She never wanted to be traditional. For example, she always graded her students papers in green ink. She chose to celebrate her anniversaries with Clint at family ice cream socials since their first date was to an ice cream store.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. in Topeka.

Please consider memorials to the Midland Hospice House in Topeka or the American Cancer Society.
