William E. “Bill” Lechner, 60, Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018.

Bill was born January 28, 1958 in Axtell, KS, the son of Gerald T. and Darlene F. (Enneking) Lechner. He graduated from Topeka West High School in 1977.

He worked at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, CA for several years and was currently employed as a Physical Therapy Aide Supervisor at the University of Kansas Health Systems, St. Francis Campus where he had worked for over 31 years.

He was the Training Center Director for the American Heart Association. He also did home health care in the Topeka area.

He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church.

Bill married Brenda Lou May DeWitt on October 5, 2002. She survives. Other survivors include children, Amber (Chris) Wood, Denver, CO, Laura (Brian Vervynck) Lechner, Kansas City, MO, Jenna (Cameron) Murray, Adrian (Darcie) Guerrero, Jinni (Desmond) Henry, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Ashton, Jillian, Joe, Allison, Charley, Fletcher, Matthew, Michael, Brice, Damien, Delaney, Danika; siblings, Bob (Kathy) Lechner, Livermore, CA, Dan (Marcy) Lechner, Janet (Tim) Morrissey, all of Topeka; and his mother, Darlene Lechner, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry “Slick” Lechner.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Fellowship Bible Church. Private family interment will be in Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.

It was Bill’s wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Lechner Grandchildren College Fund, c/o U.S. Bank.
