Russell Darus Moore, 95, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018.

He was born January 16, 1923 in Eggleton, WV the son of Osley Darrel Moore and Verba Esther (Bays) .

He married Anna Yerrick January 5, 1946 in Pueblo, CO.

He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII, later served in the United States Air Force in Korea. He also served as Base Sgt Major at Templehof Air Force Base in Berlin, Germany, during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. He retired as Senior Master Sgt. in 1971 after serving for several years at Forbes Air Base in Topeka. After he retired from the United States Air Force he worked in Civil Service at Forbes Air Force Base.

Mr. Moore was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Air Force Sergeants Association. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife all over in the United States and Germany. He was fond of traveling and together with his wife had embarked on many cruises through the years.

Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Moore; three daughters, Theresa (Donald) Sholty, Mesa, AZ, Mary Elizabeth (Douglas) Robe, Blue Springs, MO, Claire Redmond, Topeka; three grandsons, Adam Robe, Colorado Springs, CO, Lance Redmond, St. Joseph, MO, Matthew Sholty, Laramie, WY; two granddaughters, Heather Messman, St. Louis, MO, Rebecca Sholty, Dorchester, NE; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th Street, Topeka, KS 66614. Interment will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, in Leavenworth, KS .
