Harvey Marrs, 94, of Topeka, passed away Tues, July 10, 2018.

Harvey was born June 13, 1924, in Harveyville, Kansas, the son of Roy and Verna (Fouts) Marrs. He graduated from Harveyville High School in 1942.

He went on to enlist in the United States Army, serving during War II as a 189 Rigger, preparing and delivering communications in northern Africa.

Harvey was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber as a Quality Control Inspector for 32 years, retiring in 1990. When he wasn’t working, Harvey enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Harvey was a much loved member of the Harveyville and Topeka communities and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include wife, Marjorie (Nyquist) Marrs; children, Linda Gallion [Rick Gallion] and Lane Marrs [Terry Murphy]; sister, Ora (Marrs) Walters; and grandchildren, Amy Farrell, Beth Holley, Nathan Marrs, Andrew Marrs, John Marrs, Jarad Fields, Jessica Fields, Lidia Carnesale and Paul Carnesale. Harvey also had six great grandchildren as well as children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren by marriage.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lucille (Crumb) Marrs, his second wife, Elsie (Stewart) Marrs, his sister Mary (Marrs) Stowe, and his brothers Kenneth Marrs, Gail Marrs, and Richard Marrs. Harvey’s twin, Harley Marrs, died in infancy.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Street, Topeka. Graveside service will follow in Topeka Cemetery.
