James B. “Bud” Peck, 87, Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Midland Hospice House.

Bud was born March 21, 1931 in Madera, CA, the son of Paul E. and Tina J. (Keyes) Peck. He graduated from Madera High School in 1949. He served in the Army National Guard.

Bud was employed with Santa Fe Railroad in the Signal department and retired in 1989 as an Assistant Manager, after more than 38 years with the railroad.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and Lake Shawnee Golf Club. He had 2 hole-in-ones.

Bud married Carolyn Ellen Crabb on June 16, 1951 in Fresno, CA. His wife of 66 years survives. Other survivors include their children, Lynn (Dave) Pence, Placentia, CA, Nancy (Barry) Kennedy, Los Lunas, NM, Tom (Kennette) Peck, Depoe Bay, OR, Cheryl Blasi, Merriam, KS, Dave (Rachel) Peck, Topeka; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister, and son-in-law, Mike Blasi.

His hobbies were golf, travel with his wife and watching his favorite teams on TV. Bud and Carolyn loved to travel, often incorporating golf into their trips. They have traveled all fifty states, taken trips or cruises to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal and Europe.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
