Elaine Zlotky, 94, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018.

She was born on August 3, 1923 in Topeka, KS to Abe and Mollye Scrinopski. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1941 and attended her freshman year at Washburn University and completed her education at the University of Wisconsin where she received her BA degree in Philosophy in 1946.

Elaine married Richard “Dick” Zlotky on June 19, 1947. They celebrated 70 years of marriage. He survives. Other survivors include sons, David and wife Beth of Topeka, Alan and wife Merrie; two grandchildren, Sam and Katie Joy. She is survived by a sister, Sonnie Rudnick.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Cumonow.

She worked at Aldersgate Village Health Center for 20 years where she provided senior citizens with numerous programs of interest from her large library of information on a wide variety of subjects. In her later years she continued to present programs to the senior citizens of Mission Towers.

In 1996 Elaine began to remember and reminisce over the important things she had experienced during her life, and she began to write her journal entitled “Journey Through Memories and Moments.” Elaine completed four volumes from her birth up to the time of her death. The volumes included numerous pictures that closely paralleled the text.

Elaine was a devoted member of Temple Beth Sholom and was a past president of the Temple Sisterhood.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Temple Beth Sholom, 4200 SW Munson, Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Sholom.
